“You have people who are just better than us and don’t want a Wal-Mart in their community.”

this is what h. lee scott of wal-mart said in response to some communitites who simply don’t want a wal-mart there. he apparently thinks we’re snotty.

mr. scott, you’re so correct. for every community your company can bankrupt with its everyday low prices, there’s one like new york or chicago who simply doesn’t care about you. we’re diverse enough and micro-economied enough that we can get by without you.

there are enough individual merchants in the chicago area who can do the same thing you do, but without destroying massive resource reserves or bullying communities into working for your asinine wages.
