alea initialsastype, owned by andreas seidel, is sort of charmingly old-fashioned in focus. andreas makes classic typography, and that’s about it. nothing specifically groundbreaking about any of the design—but the work is extremely well-crafted. that in and of itself is worth a good look these days. the “misc” heading in AStype’s navigation leads to some terse but well-displayed examples of his own research, like illustrations of differences between weights.

is this cz..?the trib reports that chicago now has a… fashion czar?

seriously..? okay.

the details sound suspiciously daley-esque in wrongheadedness, but of course, the trib is doing their good hearted home-town-paper best as usual and simply reporting what they’re told. am i the only one whose eyebrows go heavenwards at these details?

Turner stepped into the $40,000-per-year job this spring after spending seven years as a lawyer working primarily on real estate transactions. Deciding to switch careers, she took classes at the Illinois Institute of Art in fashion marketing and management and volunteered at fashion shows. This is Turner’s first fashion job.

sounds… misguided.

daley’s scolding the city. must be tuesday.

i swear to christ, you can’t open the trib these days without daley berating someone in public. it’s like living with an over-opinionated grandfather, spouting off because he’s annoyed he can no longer take a whiz without assistance.

weirdly, i actually agree with him today. the law is stupid, and that’s coming from me, a strong believer in humane treatment of animals. anyone with a speck of cultural intelligence knows how foie gras is made, and it only takes the tiniest bit of sensitivity to stop oneself from ordering it.

this city’s government is such an embarrassing joke.
