i know it’s been quiet around here. as always, that means i’m doing something fairly interesting. this time, i’m working on a new typeface collection…one that’s been in progress for about two years now. the link is to an image of the bold italic, but the entire collection will be five weights and true italics.
along the way, i’ve discovered an incredibly interesting book detailing the conceptual and technical underpinnings of digital type design…and it’s available online as downloadable PDFs. this may seem incredibly boring to those of you who don’t make type. but for those of us who do, it’s a motherlode of information. and it’s free! whee!
something new in music: sound which is felt. i like this idea a lot. if i’m thinking about this correctly, i could see potential improvements in dance culture. on the other hand, it could be a complete disaster. su’s told me several times about “getting down with a brown sound,” which apparently disrupts the listener’s bowels. ew.
“Nothing is leadset today that is not literary. You will never see a freshly leadset recipe book, biography, or instruction book for secretaries. Just volumes of poetry and special editions, fetish objects using good type to notch themselves into the timeline of literature.”—paul ford.
true, true.
new entry at speak up: i interview rick valicenti. part one and part two.
i realize that for all intents and purposes, it looks like i suddenly forgot that i even have a website.
this is not the case. i am actually well along the way to having two websites. more soon. promise.
in the meantime, would you like to read the last buffy recap ever? yes, you would.
first time i’ve overhauled this site in three years. empty your browser caches and enjoy. i’m going out for a really big drink.
