congratulations to the new arcadians. The Tower is now joined by The Regency in full public view. both interfaces are my design.
keep checking back. new sections are being updated constantly. the regency in particular still has tons of content coming.
oh, hi. sorry. was someone looking for me? i’m busily becoming a motion designer. it’s kind of fun. look for a moving version of kissed sometime in the next few days. it features the heretofore unseen female version. i’ll let you know.
anyway.
i was going to talk about nina hagen (so love this portrait), because last weekend su whipped out nunsexmonkrock, which i had somehow completely forgotten about. then he played born in xixax, which is impossible to get played in a club. sad, really. nina’s tons of fun on the dancefloor.
then that girl called and offered to leave me her nina collection should she be swept away in some hurricane or something and then su got all pissed because he’s much more the rocker than am i, at least in his own little world, but i don’t care. he collects early-nineties rave. ew.
so i thought it would be nice to post an mp3 copy of born in xixax for all nina’s adoring fans. but then i actually bothered to make my online rounds, and jim’s beat me to it. same goddamned post.
and that is why i am not posting today. carry on.
every time i turn to the news, it seems the bush administration is doing something stupider than the day before. did everyone notice yesterday when the adminstration stopped the port lockout in favor of management, therefore negating union position entirely? no? think about it: bush adores big business (possibly more than the clinton administration, which turned such a blind eye to market regulation that we’re now in the most ridiculous recessionary scenario, like, ever). he’s from an oil state. and, oh lookie: today, he’s supporting a lawsuit filed by the automotive industry against california, who wants to require electric car sales to alleviate smog conditions. this, just after he’s been given the go-ahead to start a war that will more than likely make fossil fuel prices skyrocket. hmm.
how fabulous. i really, truly hate this country sometimes.
we’ve all become quite familiar with apple’s switch campaign lately…especially the endearingly stoned ellen feiss. it seems microsoft’s countering the campaign with their usual, um, elegance.
apparently this woman, who so loves her XP operating system, is not only a freelance writer, but a stock photography model as well. no doubt her parents are giddy with pride.
a charming example of a marketing department assuming its audience is comprised entirely of drooling idiots. via slashdot.
once again, donny deutsch (“don’t you know who i am!?”) alerts the advertising industry to that which they must already know: they are talentless hacks.
while yes, deutsch is an asshole, he comes off as kinda sweet…and his agency’s done some hot stuff (including that fucking mitsubishi campaign that kicked off dirty vegas’ lame-ass album). but then again, he sold his shop to interpublic a while back, so does he have room to talk about the rest of the industry and their relationships? i mean, really: if you’re going to be a murderous fuck, you can’t possibly expect to do so while sitting in daddy’s lap.
and, to illustrate something related to deutsch’s point, rolling stone allows itself to have a new asshole inserted by their pompous friends at mcdonald’s. how generous.
i’m sure bartle bogle hegarty (so much fun to say) will remain a bit sheepish for, like two seconds. but what the fuck do they care? they, like nearly every other agency in the world, sold to one of the giant megacompanies recently. interesting note is that said megacompany owns quite a chunk of chicago’s local economy.
so what happens when the ad industry goes poof, hmm? stop consolidating, kids. you’re doing nobody any favors.
lucky you. i’m apparently a cunt. what a kiss-up.
arts and letters daily, my first click every day, has been saved.
as for me…sorry. finishing a video due early next week.
plans for halloween week yet? no? come to the nocturna all hallows’ ball to see my first collaboration with one of my favorite people. i’ll be performing as well.
we’ll be in the metro on tuesday, october 29 from 10PM to 3AM. three new collections from chicago fashion designers, new modern dance, and new video work (mine!). all home-grown.
so. the show. you know, the one which kicked my ass for two weeks? yeah, that one. went great. if you’ve got a fast connection and quicktime, you can see the final version of my video installation here (link removed 12/09/02 for bandwidth reasons). keep in mind it’s not the most exciting piece of video in the world: it’s a moving stage set in subservience to live action onstage.
we had the metro completely filled, only two missed cues, and i remembered how much i hate being onstage. su looked radiant in a corset (size 24 waist, baby!) and dervish skirt, and i looked like a total homo: crimson fun-fur shrug, rhinestone collar (from fifi’s!), leather pants, and enough body glitter and eyeliner to keep betsey johnson giggling for years.
and now, i continue nursing the first two-day hangover i’ve ever had…
