Get Leaflets

leaflets are a great little series of iphone web applications i found out about while at SxSW interactive last week. it's a series of single-focus applications for the iphone that takes existing content and reformats it to be more usable on the iphone's smaller interface.

while this goes against notions of using the web as is, it helps usability. i almost didn't use these apps because the site owner's presentation struck me as old-fashioned ( "people don't want images in mobile content" was actually said)---but his implementations are fantastic.

the new york times is suddenly more readable when reformatted with the leaflets app. there's an RSS reader (although i prefer the functionality of newsgator mobile, leaflets' interface is a joy to use) which beats the dot mac reader all hollow, a flickr interface which makes following your flickr feed activity much simpler than flickr's own mobile interface, and several other bits of content for people who care about things like social news and baseball.
